PANEL ONE: A panel of nothing but red, with a tiny bit of white in the lower right hand corner. Like someone hasn’t finished painting a blank canvas yet. Also this isn’t just any red. It’s blood red.

ELF CAPTION: “My biggest mistake?

ELF CAPTION: I used MapQuest.”

PANEL TWO: CUT TO: a dark room and the silhouette of someone cloaked in shadow. Think of the setup when a true crime’ show talks to someone who doesn’t want their identity known.

ELF: I was in a rush, eager to learn. I have a shitty sense of direction.

ELF: This is how I ended up at the South Pole.

PANEL THREE: CUT TO: a version of the original picture above, but a little tighter on the large figure, NOT SANTA, as he paints the white wall red. We can also see the SILVER BUCKET full of what looks like red paint. Belying this motion is a pair of REINDEER ANTLERS sticking out of the bucket too.

ELF CAPTION: “The crazy thing? They have a workshop there. They even make toys.”
ELF CAPTION: “But they don’t have a Santa.”

PANEL FOUR: CUT back to the dark room. The figure has leaned forward, breaking from the shadows and revealing itself to be a tiny elf-like creature (think Dobby from Harry Potter) dressed in a loose, ill-fitting Backstreet Boys t-shirt.

ELF: Whoever that guy is, it ain’t Santa.

PANEL FIVE: CUT TO: NOT SANTA, topless and facing us, a creepy sneer on his face. He’s painting over the panel itself, making it so half of the panel is obscured by red.

ELF CAPTION: “That poor reindeer”.

PANEL SIX: CUT TO: the dark room with the ELF in. He looks nervous and frightened. He leans forwards, his hands clasped together. A large hand (and arm) dressed in the traditional Santa garb reaches into panel and is placed on top of the ELFs hands, comforting him.

VOICE (OFF): It's okay, little elf.

PANEL SEVEN: CUT TO: the painting scene. An arched door, like in the picture, opens slightly. We can see the ELF peering out from the crack, his face contorted in fear. The door itself has a bright red smear of paint across it.

VOICE CAPTION: “You have nothing left to fear.”

PANEL EIGHT: CUT TO: the dark room, and SANTA peering back at us/the elf, smiling warmly. This looks like our Santa. But, on his left cheek, there is the slightest hint of a spot of red paint/blood.

NOT SANTA: You're safe now.

PANEL NINE: Nothing but red.

Next:A bit of a cheat this week, because there’s a lot of black panels.
